On air of 24 TV Channel in "Left Bank" program with Sonia Koshkina, Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko said that a criminal case has been launched against the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov.
According to Lutsenko, proceedings against the Interior Minister have been opened following the address of Vitaly Shabunin, Head of the Anti-corruption Center.
Every day I get emails from dozens people, including Mr. Shabunin whose letter has led to criminal proceedings being launched, you would not believe against whom, the Interior Minister Avakov, because all are equal. All addresses to the General Prosecutor’s Office have the same procedural status, Lutsenko said.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is investigating two criminal proceedings against the Internal Affairs Minister: the first case is the purchase of backpacks at inflated prices from a company his son holds a share in, while the second is the illegal seizure of land by the "Investor" company, which was previously owned by Avakov.
The Verkhovna Rada registered a draft resolution to remove Arsen Avakov from the post of Internal Affairs Minister.
