Germany does not recognize the illegal elections in the annexed Crimea, according to the official Facebook page of the German Embassy in Ukraine.
“Along with our EU partners, the German government does not recognize the annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol which is illegal under the International law, and therefore, does not recognize the elections to the Russian State Duma held in Crimea. For this reason, the Federal Government did not send observers to the OSCE / ODIHR in Crimea. Together with our EU partners, the Federal Government supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” states the German ambassador in Ukraine Ernst Reichel.
Earlier, the European Union refused to recognize the results of election held on the Crimean peninsula, as well as the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation in 2014.
September 18, the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation were held.
A number of countries, including the United States, Canada, France and Sweden, refused to recognize their validity on the territory of the annexed Crimea.
Polish Foreign Ministry has called into question the legitimacy of the parliamentary elections to the State Duma of Russia as a whole.
