KYIV (QHA) -

To date, Ukraine has two courses of action regarding the territories occupied by the Russian Federation, the  Adviser to the Head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry Anton Gerashchenko said during a discussion on "The occupation: Calling spade a spade," according to QHA correspondent.

The first way is to isolate the occupied territories with a wall like the one between the western and eastern parts of Berlin, or North and South Korea, and to wait for changes in the geopolitical and internal political situation.

And the second way is negotiations with the Russian Federation under the mediation of the international community. According to People's Deputy, this option, in any case implies concessions by Ukraine, which Russia can later use to destabilize the situation in the country.

“We need to decide, either to build a wall and isolate the territories, or come to an agreement. And if we agree, then how long we are willing to take on those arrangements?” The official said.

Anton Gerashchenko went on saying that the issue of restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine can not serve as PR of certain politicians or political forces. This is a nation-wide matter.

Earlier QHA reported that a member of the parliamentary faction of the Radical Party Andrei Artemenko proposed his plan to normalize relations between Ukraine and Russia to the former adviser to the US President Michael Flynn shortly before his retirement. The point of the plan, among other things, implied the idea of holding a national referendum on leasing Crimea to RF for 50-100 years.

Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Valery Chaly called the plan of People's Deputy a "flagrant violation of the Ukrainian Constitution." He noted that the MP was not authorized to provide foreign governments with "some alternative peace plans" on behalf of the state.

February 20, MP Artemenko was expelled from the parliamentary faction of the Radical Party of Oleg Lyashko.

February 21, the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea initiated criminal proceedings on suspicion of the People's Deputy Andrei Artemenko of treason.
