As of now, the release of hostages held in the Donbas is blocked, according to the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Presidential Commissioner for the peaceful settlement of the conflict in the East of Ukraine Irina Gerashchenko.
“The Presidential Commissioner reminded that now 110 citizens of Ukraine are still illegally kept in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk (ORDLO), and noted that the release of the hostages is actually blocked,” reads the message of the press service of the Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada.
Moreover, Gerashchenko pointed to the importance of the work of the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organizations.
Earlier Gerashchenko said that the Russian President is hiding from the "Norman Quartet" meeting because he is not going to stop the aggression in Donbas.
