Russian President Vladimir Putin is not ready to answer for his crimes either in Ukraine or in Syria, so he avoids the meetings in "Norman format," the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and Ukraine's representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral contact group Irina Gerashchenko told reporters before the meeting of the VR Conciliation Board, according to UNIAN.
“With regard to the actions of the Kremlin, it is obvious that Putin is not ready to withdraw from Donbas, to compromise. We see that he is hiding from the "Norman format" because he is not ready to give answers to very specific questions. He is not ready to answer either for his crimes in Syria, or his crimes in Ukraine,” said Gerashchenko.
Ukrainian MP called on the international community to respond adequately to the crimes committed by the Russian authorities.
“The world must act appropriately to call a spade a spade, to strengthen the sanctions, not to debate on how to pacify the man, who violates all international norms today and is involved in the murders of thousands of Ukrainians and Syrians, with a gingerbread,” she stressed.
The meeting of the "Normandy Four" leaders is scheduled to be held in Paris on October 19. However, the Kremlin said it would participate in the meeting only after consultation with experts.
On October 12, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and President Putin held a telephone conversation discussing the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
