SIMFEROPOL / AQMESCIT (QHA) -

In an interview with the QHA (Crimean News Agency) Ilmi Umerov, the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, told that, in his understanding, when the two nations are at war it is not reasonable to talk about investing into some cultural projects.

- It would be better to channel these funds to hold international events, conferences, symposia, meetings that will raise the issue of Russian aggression against Ukraine, annexation of the Ukrainian territory, the fact that the Russian Federation is the culprit of military operations in Donbas ... Such events would be much more useful for Ukraine.

Ilmi Umerov believes it makes sense to invest in cultural and educational projects for those Crimean Tatars who left Crimea since cut off from communication with their homeland they run the risk to be quickly assimilated.

Ilmi Umerov also made estimation of the civil power blockade of Crimea and mentioned the possibility of a network blockade.
