WASHINGTON (QHA) -

Former US Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul told the Americans why the Ukrainians cannot accept the annexation of Crimea, using the analogy with the US. He shared his point on his Twitter page.

"When Americans tell Ukrainians to be more pragmatic when dealing with Russia, I wonder how pragmatic we Americans would be if China annexed Hawaii, Canada invaded Maine, or Mexico supported separatists in California?" Michael McFaul wrote.

QHA reported that the former acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine, former Commander of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ihor Tenyukh said that Russia had begun preparations for the annexation of Crimea back in 2010, when Viktor Yanukovych came to power.

Preparation began with personnel cleansing, a reduction in the fleet number, the dissolving of commissariats and the manning of the Navy by contract soldiers from the Crimea. By conducting this "mop-up", Tenyukh explained his dismissal from the post of Commander of the General Staff in 2010.
