The Security Service of Ukraine searches for the former chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Ihor Sorkin and Chairman of the PJSC Real bank Board Vladimir Agafonov, reports the press-service agency.
As it became known the criminal case has been launched against Sorkin and Agafonov over defrauding the National Bank of Ukraine and PJSC Agrarian Fund of UAH 2.8 billion. Theft of funds was carried out in collusion with members of the criminal organization founded by Sergei Kurchenko, the owner of PJSC Real Bank and PJSC Brokbusinessbank.
The investigation is made by the Ukrainian Security Service jointly with the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.
Igor Sorkin is suspected of having committed a criminal offense under Part. 5, Sec. 191 ("appropriation, embezzlement of property or misappropriation of them through abuse of office) and Part 1 Sec. 255 ("the creation of a criminal organization").
Vladimir Agafonov is charged with criminal offenses under Part. 5, Sec. 191 ("appropriation, embezzlement of property or misappropriation of them through abuse of office"), Part. 3, Sec. 209 ("Legalization (laundering) of proceeds of crime"), Part. 1, Sec. 255 ("the creation of a criminal organization") and Part. 2, Sec. 366 ("Service fake") of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Previously Sorkin and Agafonov hit the wanted list of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.
