September 28, at the age of 93the ninth President of Israel Shimon Peres passed away in a hospital "Tel Hashomer" near Tel Aviv. September 13, he suffered a stroke, was taken to the hospital and put in a medically induced coma.

A current head of Israel Reuven Rivlin interrupted his visit to Ukraine due to the death of his predecessor Shimon Peres. According to the Arutz Sheva TV Channel, Rivlin will return to Israel on Wednesday afternoon. Israeli president arrived in Ukraine on an official visit to mark the 75th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy.On Wednesday, September 28, he was to travel to the city of Odessa.
Shimon Peres occupied almost every significant position in Israeli political life, his political career lasted more than 70 years. From July 2007 to July 2014 he served as head of the State of Israel. From January, 2 2013 until the end of the presidential term he was the oldest acting head of state on the planet. From 1959 to 2007 he was continuously elected to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset. Shimon Peres is the ninth and twelfth Prime Minister of Israel, one of the founders of the Labor Party and its long-term leader. He also held ministerial posts in the 12 Israeli Cabinet. In 1994, together with Yitzhak Rabin and Yasser Arafat, Peres was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
