WASHINGTON (QHA) -

Famous Russian lawyer Mark Feigin held several meetings with american diplomats in the US. During the meetings he focused on the need to adopt new resolutions on the Crimean issues and on the prisoners of the occupation authorities, according to the lawyer’s comments for Ukrinform.

Feigin noted that in the Congress and in the US Senate there is an unequivocal support for international initiatives in matters of assistance to Crimean political prisoners.

“Just today, I was talking about this at the meeting in Congress: We need resolutions on the Crimea and Crimean political prisoners. In my opinion, both the House of Representatives and the Senate duly show understanding,” the lawyer said.

Earlier, on February 25, Russian lawyers Nikolai Polozov and Mark Feigin appealed to the Chairman of the Russian President's Council for Human Rights Mikhail Fedotov with a request to address the government authorities of the Russian Federation, calling for an end to the repression and release of political prisoners in the Crimea. The appeal stressed that the indigenous people of the Crimea - Crimean Tatars - are now forced to leave their homes due to the threat of being detained and brought to administrative or criminal responsibility.
