The hearing into the 26 February case continues in the Supreme Court of Crimea. The defendants in the case are Ahtem Chiygoz, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars, and the Crimean Tatar activists Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhy.
According to Zaire Smedlyaev, Head of the Kurultai’s Central Executive Committee, the court was adjourned from 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm .
Relatives, members of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars, veterans of the national movement and volunteers came to support the Crimean Tatar activists.
“Only close relatives were allowed into the court proceedings,” said Smedlyaev.
It was reported earlier that the trial into the 26 February is being held in Simferopol today. The defendants in the case are Ahtem Chiygoz, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars, and the Crimean Tatar activists Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhy. The three are held in custody in the detention center No.1 in Simferopol. Eskender Kantemirov, Eskender Emirvaliev and Arsen Yunusov are also among the defendants.
Today, the so-called Prosecutor of Crimea Natalia Poklonskaya and her subordinates supporting the prosecution in the February 26 case were recused. Three Crimean judges discussed the recusation in the deliberation room for more than 40 minutes, and then predictably rejected the disqualification of the prosecutors.
