KYIV (QHA) -

Russia will try to replicate the "Ossetian scenario" in Donbas legalizing its military presence in Ukraine, according to the opinion of the ex-Adviser to the Chairman of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Konstantin Batozsky.

“Russia escalates the situation in the Donbas. In my opinion, the situation is developing in the way that the Russian Federation will try to make use of the "Ossetian scenario". The next step will be the recognition of the independence in the so-called DPR and LPR. Then the legalization of the Russian military presence in these territories will start, like it was in South Ossetia,” he noted during the panel discussion on "Three years of resistance to the Russian occupation in Donbas."

Batozsky believes that the civilian asset of Donbas should unite all the efforts to prevent by all means the Russian Federation from carrying out this scenario.

Previously QHA reported that a former People's Deputy Yegor Firsov called the number of Ukrainian hostages held captive by militants of the self-proclaimed "DPR".
