The Simferopol Central District Court passed this judgment today, Oct. 12.
Eskender Nebiyev has been accused of involvement in the riots during the rally held outside the Crimean parliament Feb. 26, 2014, when the Crimean Tatars, as opposed to representatives of the Russian Unity Party, defended the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
After sentence was rendered, Nebiyev has been released in the courtroom.
Reminder: April 22, 2015 the Kiev District Court of Simferopol has rendered a decision to arrest the cameraman for the Crimean ATR TV Channel Eskender Nebiyev for two months on charges of involvement in the riots on February 26 last year.
The owner of the ATR TV Channel Lenur Islyamov confirmed Nebiyev had attended the rally and performed his duties.
- He was sent there as a cameraman: we had live broadcast then, said Islyamov. He deemed the Nebiyev’s arrest as a political action.
Nebiyev family became even more famous after another tragic event. Sept. 26, 2015 at about 4 p.m. a man armed with a gun entered the building of emergency medical services, located in the Sevastopolskaya Str. in the city of Simferopol, and fired multiple shots in four medical employees. Two of them have been killed. Police have been searching for 55-year-old suspect Bekir Nebiyev.
Nebiev family wrote an open letter to the relatives of those killed, which reported that they provide full assistance in finding out Bekir Nebiyev’s whereabouts.
Oct.10 the law enforcement agencies of Crimea issued a message saying the man who had opened fire at the Simferopol ambulance station and killed two doctors has allegedly been found dead in the fountain in the city of Simferopol.
