Former US ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst is confident that the Crimea may be de-occupied, but he adds that it will happen only in several decades.
In his opinion, the Kremlin and the majority of Russians believe that "Ukraine must forget about the Crimea."
“As an analyst I believe that in the coming years Russia will not return Crimea to Ukraine. But in several decades it is quite possible,” the diplomat noted.
Earlier, in late September, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with the heads of the European Union countries in New York to discuss the introduction of UN peacekeepers in the Donbas, de-occupation of the Crimea and the sanctions regime against Russia.
