Ian Tombinsky, head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, welcomed the adoption of anti-discrimination amendment to the Labor Code by the Verkhovna Rada, according to a statement posted on the EU Delegation’s Facebook page.

“I welcome the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the amendment to Labor Code, which prohibits discrimination on various grounds. This is consistent with the obligations of Ukraine on human rights within the UN, the Council of Europe and the EU. This is an important element in meeting the requirements of the Visa Liberalization Action Plan,” Ian Tombinsky said.

According to him, he appreciates the values and traditions of the Ukrainian society and ‘it is not being called into question by thу amendment.’

“Moreover, the equal rights for all citizens of Ukraine are an important part of fundamental human rights. Respect for each person, regardless of any personal characteristic is the basis of modern European society,” claimed Ian Tombinsky.
