EU extended sanctions against Russia

The sanctions have been extended until September, 16, 2016.

The European Union has officially extended the sanctions against 146 Russian and Ukrainian citizens, as well as 37 organizations, according to a statement published in the Official EU Journal.

- Given the continued undermining of the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, the sanctions should be extended for the next 6 months. The decision will come into effect on the day following the publication, reads the document.

The EU has also removed three dead individuals from the sanction list - Yury Stallions, a member of the Crimea’s Public Chamber, Igor Sergun, Head of the Russia’s Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff, and Pavel Dremov, Commander of the sixth separate motorized rifle regiment of the Cossack "LPR People's militia.
