KYIV (QHA) -

The European Union condemned the violation of human rights in the occupied Crimea, in particular, against the Crimean Tatar activist, involved in the contrived "Hizb ut-Tahrir" case, Uzeir Abdullayev, the EU Delegation in Ukraine reported on Facebook.

"The EU mission continues to condemn all violations of the rights of the Crimean Tatars and is particularly concerned about the health status of Mr. Uzeir Abdullayev," reads the message.

The representative office noted that on the annexed peninsula it is necessary to ensure for all ethnic groups the opportunity to develop their culture.

“The rights of the Crimean Tatars are grossly violated, in particular, through the closure of their media, the ban on the activities of their representative body, the Mejlis, and the persecution of their leaders and members of the community. It is necessary to guarantee Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians and all other ethnic and religious communities of the peninsula support and development of their cultures, traditions, education and identity."

Previously, the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said that the threat of death of Uzeir Abdullayev had passed.

QHA reported that Uzeir Abdullayev was placed in the sanitary part of Simferopol remand center. Such a decision was made after members of the "Public Monitoring Commission of the Crimea" at the request of Abdullayev’s wife  visited him in the remand center.

Earlier Dilyara Abdullaeva, the mother of the political prisoner, reported that her son had sepsis. According to her, Uzeir Abdullayev had a high fever, which did not get off, and his left leg is swollen.
