Erdogan vows to take personal efforts to establish dialogue in Donbas

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko congratulated Recep Tayyip Erdogan on a solid victory in the first national elections of the President of Turkey that took place on August 10, presidential web site reports.

In the course of the conversation, Erdoğan asked about the situation in the Donbas and assured of the readiness to take personal efforts in order to establish dialogue to achieve peace and stability in the region.

The Ukrainian President invited the newly-elected President of Turkey to make an official visit to Ukraine.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the country’s first direct presidential election on Sunday.

The Turkish president was previously chosen by parliament, but a 2010 referendum gave Turks the power to choose the head of state by direct vote.
