Speaking at the session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly on November 21, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his strong support for Ukraine and the Crimean Tatar people.
“Territorial integrity of Ukraine has been initially a consistent principle for us. We monitored and go on monitoring the situation with regard to the Crimean Tatars rights in Crimea,” Turkish President said.
Previously, Turkey became a co-sponsor of resolution on human rights in Crimea, which confirmed that Russia is an aggressor country that occupied Ukrainian territories.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Turkey has already reacted to the Turkish President's words on its Facebook page.
“It is very important when the words are confirmed by practical steps, as demonstrated at the recent meeting of the UN General Assembly by Turkey, which supported a resolution on human rights in Crimea having become its co-author. We are grateful to our strategic partner for the consistent and firm position regarding territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Speaking at the meeting in Parliament, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that the resolution "On Human Rights in Crimea" can serve as a significant tool in the further de-occupation of the peninsula.
