The European Parliament is to hold a debate and adopt a resolution on the violation by the Russian Federation of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people in annexed Crimea, reported Ukrinform.
This issue is on the agenda of the next plenary session of the EU legislative body, which is due to be held on May 9-12 in Strasbourg.
On May, 12 the EP is to discuss and vote for a resolution on the violation of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people, as well as the democratic standards and the rule of law in temporarily occupied Crimea.
As QHA reported earlier, May, 4 Mejlis First Deputy Chairman Nariman Dzhelyal revealed a copy of the decision by the Supreme Court of the Russian-controlled Crimea recognizing the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People an extremist organization and banning its activities.
On April 26, the Russia’s Court in Crimea delivered a verdict in the Mejlis case, recognizing it an extremist organization and banning its activities in Russia, including Crimea.
On May, 5 the leader of the Crimean Tatars, Ukraine’s Presidential Commissioner on the Affairs of the Crimean Tatar People, MP Mustafa Dzhemilev posted to Facebook a list of the Crimean Tatars illegally held in detention in Russia. This list includes fourteen representatives of the Crimean Tatar people who have been illegally locked up by the Russian FSB and Investigative Committee.
