Electricity supplies to Crimea may get cut off in October

“Crimea’s blockade may be followed by cessation of electricity supplies,” said Refat Chubarov, Head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian MP, in an interview televised by the 5th Channel.

“We do not rule out the possibility of the blockade being followed by cessation of electricity supplies to Crimea. But I keep reiterating my opinion that that is likely to happen in October,” said the Mejlis leader.

As of September 20, trucks carrying food supplies have been prevented from entering occupied Crimea by public activists.

Mustafa Jemilev was reported to have said that the Mejlis would also be pushing for termination of a deal on electricity supplies to Donbass and Crimea reached between Ukraine and Russia.
