WASHINGTON (QHA) -

The leader of the Crimean Tatars, the Presidential Commissioner of Ukraine for Affairs of the Crimean Tatar people, People's Deputy of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev will meet with representatives of the US Administration, congressmen and senators in Washington, according to  the information his Twitter page.

Mustafa Dzhemilev will also hold talks with representatives of the expert community.

The key topics for meetings with representatives of the US Administration, congressmen, senators and experts will include the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the fight against violations of human rights and freedoms in the Crimea temporarily occupied by Russia, as well as the support of the Crimean Tatar people and Ukrainian activists on the peninsula, in particular in the context of the release of political prisoners, who are unlawfully held in the Crimea and in the territory of the Russian Federation.

"Will have meetings in the United States with representatives of the US Administration, Congressmen, Senators, as well as representatives of the expert community to address the violations of human rights and freedoms in the Crimea temporarily occupied by Russia, and support of the Crimean Tatars people", reads the message.

Dzhemilev also published photos from the meeting.


Earlier the Presidential Commissioner of Ukraine for Affairs of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev and Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chyigoz took part in raising the Crimean Tatar flag over the building of the Toronto City Hall.

The raising of the flag was accompanied by the performance of the anthem of the Crimean Tatar people. The flag was raised as a sign of solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people and in memory of the victims of the 1944 deportation.

Speaking at the University of Toronto at an event dedicated to repressions against the Crimean Tatars and other human rights abuses in the occupied Crimea, Dzemilev said that the de-occupation of Crimea is impossible by military means.

In his view, de-occupation must be peaceful, and the key to this is to strengthen economic sanctions against Russia.
