The election of the Russian president in the occupied Crimea is illegal, which means that Putin is an illegally elected president. The corresponding statement was made by the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, People's Deputy of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev in an interview with QHA correspondent.
“If it were parliamentary elections that were held last year, it would be meaningful to say that we do not recognize the MPs elected in the Crimea. But when we say that we do not recognize the elections in the Crimea, but we recognize the elections held in the country as a whole, in practice this does not have any result. Because the votes received in the Crimea, illegal votes, show that Putin is an illegally elected president. But the Western countries just do not take such a step. And we understand the reasons for this, because the non-recognition of the president of the country with nuclear weapons is the last step towards declaring war. But still, the non-recognition of elections in the Crimea is very good," he said.
