LONDON (QHA) -

On March 13-15, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev and Deputy Heads of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz and Ilmi Umerov will be on a visit to the UK.

During the visit, meetings will be held with Richard Jones, Director of the Department for Human Rights and Democracy of the Foreign Office, Chairman and members of the Global Friends of Ukraine in the British Parliament, Ambassador of Turkey to London Abdurahman Bilgic, Head of the British Foreign Ministry Boris Johnson.

Statements by Akhtem Chiyhoz and Ilmi Umerov are also expected at the event "Crimean realities: Four years since the annexation", dedicated to the occupation of Crimea by Russia.

The meeting of Ilmi Umerov with the representative of the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre Sophie Rust is planned as well. During the meeting the situation with violation of human rights in the occupied Crimea will be discussed.

Reference: Russia treacherously attacked the sovereign Ukrainian state in 2014. The Russians, conducted an illegal "referendum" in the Crimea at gunpoint, “receiving” 120% support for annexation, and then they attempted to seize the rest of Ukraine taking advantage of the chaos of the "Russian spring", but were stopped in the Donbas by the strength of volunteers who, with the support of the Ukrainian people, took a stand to defend the country. Now the Russian Federation is trying to keep the occupied Crimea and part of the Donbas under its influence through terror and intimidation.
