The statements on the creation of the Crimean Tatar National Territorial Autonomy in Kherson region are the myths created by the FSB, the First Deputy Minister on Information Policy Emine Dzhaparova told a press conference held in Kyiv on August, 8 as cited by a QHA correspondent.

The information saying that the Crimean Tatars have decided to create in Kherson region the Crimean Tatar National Autonomy is false. Today, the only voice of the Crimean Tatar people and its representative self-government body is the Mejlis. The Mejlis Chairman Refat Chubarov, the leader of the Crimean Tatars, as well as other members of the central Mejlis have repeated over and over again that this a myth, she Dzhaparova.

She went on saying that following the return of the Crimean Tatars from deportation in the 90s the meeting of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar People discussed the creation of such autonomy within the unitary Ukraine.

The establishment of such autonomy doesn’t mean the creation of a separate state, separatism. It is based on the inalienable right of the indigenous people, the Crimean Tatars, to self-determination, said the First Deputy Minister on Information Policy.

Dzheparova stressed that Kherson region has always been on the border between mainland Ukraine and the Crimean peninsula, and after the annexation of Crimea it has become one of the main objects for the ramped up Russian propaganda.

So far it is important for the occupation authorities to have an unstable situation in the media space and therefore they use the opportunity to undermine it. The Crimean Tatar factor - it is a trump card that they play, so to speak, via their influence agents, said Dzhaparova.

The First Deputy on the Information Policies believes that today we shouldn’t make assumptions, but rely on the opinion of the representative body of the Crimean Tatar people – the Mejlis, which should be the main driving force behind the autonomy’s creation.

May 18, 2016 at the evening-requiem in memory of victims of the Genocide of the Crimean Tatar People, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced the initiative to create the Crimean Tatar Autonomy.

June, 23 the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov discussed with Ukraine’s President the working group’s activities within the Constitutional Commission targeting to introduce amendments to the Article 10 of the Ukraine’s Constitution "the Autonomous Republic of Crimea".
