In the morning, December 29, Iosif Kobzon, deputy of the Russian State Duma and artist, arrived in the occupied Donetsk, where he was met and accompanied by soldiers of the Russian Army. He said that he needed greater protection because of the unstable situation in the region.
“Not everyone likes my meetings and visits. But the fact that my fellow countrymen meet me means more. Safety measures are not excessive, but I do not ask to be heavily guarded,” he said.
It is noteworthy that he was granted a protection of special units of the Russian Armed Forces. This is evidenced by the photos that captured Kobzon surrounded by the military in the uniform with the distinctive marks of the Russian Federation.
Iosif Kobzon is known for his ardent support for terrorists of the so-called ‘DPR’ and ‘LPR’ (Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics). Therefore, he was entered into sanction lists of Ukraine and other countries. Kobzon is denied entry to a series of countries. But the artist stubbornly continues to give concerts for militants in Donbas, while mentioning that many of his colleagues are also not averse to support the separatists.
“Pokrovskaya is asking, Volochkova is asking, many of my colleagues would like to come. However, it’s very difficult to organize concerts under fires,” Kobzon said in his interview with Russian media.
