May 29, at the international conference “Crimean Tatars Three Years after the Occupation of the Crimea ...”, which was held in the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, the former ambassador of Lithuania in Ukraine Marius Yanukonis proposed to establish symbolic representative bodies of Crimean Tatars in the world capitals, journalist Yury Lukanov reported on Facebook.
The former Lithuanian ambassador in USA Zigmantas Pavilionis supported his colleague’s proposal to create “information centers that will tell about the situation of the Crimean Tatars in the Crimea”.
In turn, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius noted that Lithuania continues supporting the inhabitants of the Crimea and calls on the Russian Federation to stop the violation of human rights in the occupied peninsula.
Earlier QHA reported that the two-days international conference “Crimean Tatars in Three Years after the Occupation of the Crimea: The Current Situation and Further Strategy for the International Community” stated in Vilnius. The conference participants are discussing various aspects of the occupation of Crimea: the violation of international law during the Crimea annexation, the situation with human rights in the Crimea, property rights abuse on the peninsula. They will also discuss Lithuania’s international activity intended to further non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea.
