According to S. Gemeci, there is unofficial instruction of the Chairman of the Majlis Mustafa Cemil to prevent participation of the Sebat representatives in the elections to the Qurultay.
“All of our representatives, who wanted to participate in the elections to the Qurultay as candidates in majoritarian districts, were not admitted to the elections”, Gemeci told.
In his turn, the Head of the Central Election Committee Zahir Smedlâ has commented this statement of Gemeci for the QHA: “CEC does not consider any political looks. In order to be registered as a candidate of the Qurultay delegate, a person must fulfil all requirements of the Elections Regulations for the Qurultay. I did not hear representatives of the “Mohiliov’s Tatars” (separate Crimean Tatars who are loyal to the Crimean premier Anatolii Mohyliov and collaborating with the authorities as opposed to the Majlis – ed.) tried to be registered somewhere and the CEC did not receive any complaints from them”.
Also the CEC head stressed the NGO Sebat representatives assured repeatedly the public they are not engaged in politics, and “are dealing only with the land issues”.
