During the first meeting of US President Donald Trump and RF President Vladimir Putin, four more people will be present in the room: US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and two interpreters.
Reportedly, in the last few days the President of the United States was presented a significant amount of preparatory materials for a trip to Europe, but the section regarding his meeting with Putin contained only a few pages.
Among the top officials who were preparing Trump for the meeting were Defense Minister James Mattis, who openly criticized Putin, and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who has a long history of relations with the Russian leader. Fiona Hill, another critic of Putin, who has been the senior director for European and Russian Affairs of the US Security Council over the past few months, made contribution to the Trump’s preparation to the meeting as well.
The meeting of Trump and Putin will take place on July 7 in Hamburg on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
