KYIV (QHA) -

Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmila Denisova addressed the German Ombudsperson Bärbel Kofler asking for help in organizing a meeting with Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov. Denisova posted the letter to Kofler on her Facebook page.

She notes that international pressure on Russia is important in resolving the situation with ensuring the rights of Ukrainian political prisoners.

“Information from various sources about the health of Oleg Sentsov, who has been on a hunger strike for about 80 days, is very controversial. It requires an independent assessment through my personal meeting with Oleg. In connection with this, I ask for your possible assistance in this matter," Denisov wrote in a letter.

Reportedly, Ukrainian artist Boris Yegiazaryan suggested that there is a personal struggle between Oleg Sentsov and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He noted that Sentsov is now engaged in the work that was once done by all the dissidents.

Earlier, Ukrainian public figures and writers sent a letter to Oleg Sentsov in a prison in Labitnangi (Russia). All signers asked Oleg Sentsov to stop the hunger strike.
