KYIV (QHA) - Russian journalists who cover the Eastern Partnership summit have been recommended pointing out to the "big geopolitical victory" of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the context of the suspension of Ukraine's association with the European Union.
Ukrinform's correspondent has learnt this from diplomatic sources on the sidelines of the summit on Friday.
"The Russian media got "gag orders" from the Kremlin: to state that Ukraine's failure to sign the Association Agreement with the EU is Putin's biggest geopolitical victory," the sources said.
As reported, Ukraine and the EU planned to sign the Association Agreement, including a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius on November 29.
The Ukrainian government on November 21 decided to suspend the preparations for signing the instrument.
