Blown-up transmission towers in the Kherson region may lead to power blackouts in Crimea tonight, says a message on the website of the Energy Ministry of the Russian Federation.

“With Melitopol-Jankoy (330 kWh) and Kahovskaya-Titan (220 kWh) power lines offline, there is a risk of power supply being limited to 50-100 MW in the evening hours when power consumption is at its peak,” says the message.

It is also reported that backup power generators and six gas-turbine power units with a combined output of 117 MW are now on stand-by and will be used in case of power supply disruption.
