Ilmi Umerov, the Mejlis Deputy Chairman, said that the Crimea-wide event arranged annually before the occupation of Crimea, will not be held on the peninsular on May 18, this year.

“Each regional or local Mejlis will carry out activities to the extent possible. This can be visiting memorial places, monuments, mosques, cemeteries, etc. At 12:00 pm noon, it is desirable to adhere to the universal moment of silence,” Umerov wrote on his Facebook page.

The Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis also said that anyone can take part in the event, which will take place in Bakhchysarai at the memorial plaque outside the railway station, where the flowers will be laid to and held a minute of silence at 12:00 pm noon. A midday prayer is supposed to be held at the mosque of the Khan's Palace at 12:45 pm.

“Anyone who wants to join the activities of the community, look for information and search for each other,” he added.
