When protecting their rights, Crimean Tatars will never overstep the rights of other people.
Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people said, delivering his speech at the Crimean Tatar Flag Day, held on the outskirts of Simferopol on June 26.
“Crimean Tatars are not the kind of people one should expect danger from. When protecting their rights, Crimean Tatars will never overstep the rights of others. Crimean Tatars should not be treated as second-class citizens. We should not be “prisoners” of those in Crimean government who has a phobia for Crimean Tatars. This is our land, our city [Simferopol,-ed.]. We will never let some people to be on the outskirts, while others are in the center- Chubarov said. Power that separates people on ethnic or religious basis won’t last for long. It is wrong to treat people that way- said Chubarov”- he added.
“Crimea Tatar people suffered many difficulties to return to Homeland. Memory is very important for us. Nation that remembers its history and traditions will never disappear”- he said.
Crimean authorities banned Crimean Tatars to mark the Flag Day in the city center, so the event was conducted on the outskirts of Simferopol, in Fontany district -- area of compact residence of Crimean Tatars.
Thousands of Crimeans attended the event.
