Crimean Tatars should take active part in Crimean census, scheduled for the end of 2014, in case it is conducted under the rules and the results of the census are available.

Deputy head of Mejlis Nariman Jelal announced, QHA correspondent reports.

“Crimean Tatars are interested to know the certain number of Crimean Tatar population, so we are interested in the census. During the previous, Soviet census Crimean Tatars were put in another nationalities list. So there is the only risk: Crimean Tatars should be marked as Crimean Tatars - Jelal said. The most important thing is to know the exact results of the census”.

Jelal also noted Mejlis had planned holding Crimean Tatar census, still there was not enough money.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has ordered a population census in the Crimean and city of Sevastopol in the fourth quarter of 2014. The main results will be summed up before May 1, 2015.
