Simferopol (QHA) - Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Jemilev believes an International Forum on Crimean Tatar issues should be held in spring 2014, informs press service of Mejlis. In particular, Jemilev expressed hope to hold the Forum on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the deportation of Crimean Tatars. “We propose to hold the Forum on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the deportation, in March or April 20014”, said head of Mejlis. This proposal was voiced by Jemilev at a meeting with the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule and representatives of Ukrainian and Crimean governments. “All these years we struggled for survival; for return to our homeland and restoration of our basic rights. On May 18, an important day for Crimean Tatars, the central square of Simferopol, as in previous years will be full of thousands of people. And we would like to be able say to all these people something reassuring regarding the prospects for the solution of our national issue”, said Jemilev. Conducting the Forum under the auspices of the EU and ESCE on the eve of the deportation anniversary would be very reassuring for Crimean Tatars, Jemilev believes. As reported, on September 19, a round table on interethnic relations with participation of Stefan Fule and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara was held in Simferopol. The round table gathered members of the Council of Ministers of Crimea, Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people, Council of representatives of Crimean Tatar people at the President of Ukraine, Republican committee on interethnic relations and others.
