The Constitutional Commission will discuss the proposals of the working group on amending the Constitution of Ukraine on the Crimean Tatar national autonomy, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said at a press conference "Challenges-2018" held on February 28.

“I do not see the proposals of the working group, they should be approved by the Constitutional Commission. I will appeal to the Constitutional Commission to hold a public discussion of the proposals by the working group. And as soon as the final version is reached, as I promised, the issue of national or national-cultural autonomy, introduction of amendments to the Constitution will be initiated in the Verkhovna Rada. And I very much hope that the parliament will support this proposal," the president said.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko also stated the need to amend Article 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine regulating the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, on May 18, 2016, on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People.
