(QHA) -

Military dolphins serving in Crimea will be transferred to the Russian Navy, an employee at the oceanarium told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

Military dolphins and sea lions were undergoing training for the Ukrainian Navy before the Crimean Peninsula was reunited with Russia last week. The training was begun in 2012.

“The oceanarium’s engineers are developing new equipment for new programs so that the dolphins can be used more effectively in underwater operations,” the employee, who requested to remain anonymous, said.
