On the occasion of the 202nd birthday of Taras Shevchenko, Ukrainian activists are going to hold a rally near the monument to the great Ukrainian poet and artist in Simferopol on March 9, Alyona Popova, an activist of the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Crimea, posted on her Facebook page.
“We attempted to file a notice of a meeting on March 9, but failed, as our application form was out of date. Then we were politely introduced a new form, given a copy of it and invited to come tomorrow. But immediately we were warned that our application will be refused due to the emergency situation,” Popova wrote.
It was reported earlier that in 2015, the residents of Simferopol also planned to hold a rally to honor the memory of T.Shevchenko near his monument. However, the City Administration denied them and agreed to hold a meeting in Gagarin park near the sculpture "Three Graces."
On March 9, Ukraine and the Ukrainian Diaspora around the world will celebrate the 202nd anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth.
