A separate battalion of marines of the Russian Black Sea Fleet stationed in the annexed Crimea was strengthened by 40 APCs “BTR-82A,” press service of the Southern Military District reports.

“Last week, a separate battalion of marines of the Black Sea Fleet stationed in the Republic of Crimea has got around 40 modern BTR-82A,” says a statement.

Moreover, the troops of the Southern Military District are reported to have received over 160 units of new weapons and military equipment - including aircrafts, patrol boats, as well as topographic and automotive equipment - since the beginning of 2016.

According to the press service of the Russian Ministry, in 2016, the troops of the Military District are scheduled to receive more than 1.8 thousand units of new and upgraded models of military equipment, including Veliky Novgorod and Kolpino submarines, the Admiral Essen frigate, Su-25SM and Su-30SM aircrafts, Mi-8 AMTSh and Ka-52 helicopters, etc.
