Ukraine and Turkey have always sought to peace and stability in the Black Sea region. Therefore, the occupation of the Crimea by the Russian Federation has become a challenge not only for Ukraine, but also for Turkey and other countries of the Black Sea region, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said during the solemn opening of the Istanbul park in Odesa, according to the QHA correspondent.
“We are united both by geography, by the Black Sea, and also by common goals and interests. Our countries yearn for peace and stability in the Black Sea region ... Unfortunately, three years ago the aggressor, the Russian Federation, undermined the foundations of both world and regional order, unleashing the illegal, cynical annexation of the Crimea and aggression in the East of our country. Such a policy of the Kremlin is a challenge to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country. This is also a challenge to global security, Turkey and all the Black Sea countries”, the President said.
Petro Poroshenko also expressed gratitude to Turkey and its leadership for their unwavering position on the Crimea, called the President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as “his friend and a friend of all Ukraine”.
