Crimea: House of Qurman Mejlis Chairman searched

Russian authorities launched the next wave of searches of Crimean Tatars' homes on March 22.

Security forces searched the house of Uchkun Devletshaev, the Regional Chairman of the Mejlis and a Kurultai delegate, in Krasnohvardiiske region of Crimea on March 22,” Zair Smedlyaev, Head of the Kurultai Central Election Commission, posted on his Facebook page.

“A search was carried out in the house of Uchkun, Chairman of the Qurman regional Mejlis and a Kurultai delegate, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.,” Smedlyaev wrote.

In his commentary to a QHA correspondent, Zair Smedlyaev said that Uchkun Devletshaev was at work during the search. The FSB (Russia's Federal Security Service) officers did not allow the wife of Devletshaev to call anyone and took her phones away. 

It was reported earlier by QHA that the Russian law enforcement officers searched the houses of Shevket Usmanov and Remzi Muratov, the delegates of the Kurultai of Crimean Tatar people.
