BRUSSELS (QHA) - Ukraine needs to find the political will to ensure the compliance with the conditions set for the signature of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
The European Parliament Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, led by Aleksander Kwasniewski and Pat Cox, said this in a statement made in Brussels on Wednesday, according to Ukrinform.
“What is critical is not the capacity to deliver a solution but rather the political will to do so. What is indispensable in the coming week is to find that political will, to act and to deliver,” the statement said.
They also added that time is running out to achieve compliance with the conditions required for the signature of the Association Agreement on 29 November 2013.
As reported earlier, the European Parliament extended the mandate of the Monitoring Mission to Ukraine of Cox-Kwasniewski until the Eastern Partnership Summit. On November 28 in Vilnius it is expected to sign the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
However, Ukraine has to fulfill a number of requirements, the key one is the release of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.
At its extraordinary session on Wednesday, the Ukrainian parliament failed to pass the European integration bills, including on the medical treatment of prisoners abroad.
The MPs will again convene on Tuesday, November 19.
