The House on Monday overwhelmingly approved a resolution urging President Barack Obama to send lethal weapons to Ukraine to protect its sovereignty in its fight against rebels in east Ukraine. The resolution was approved 348 to 48.
The adopted document is registered under the number 162, and is called "Appeal to the President to ensure Ukraine's military support to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity."
"The House of Representatives urges the President to fully and immediately implement the authority provided by the US Congress to supply Ukraine with lethal defense weapon systems to enhance the ability of the Ukrainian people to defend their sovereign territory from unprovoked and continuing aggression from the Russian Federation," – says the adopted Resolution.
The Resolution of the US Congress has only advisory nature and is not binding. Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine has sent a request for the US weapons.
