(QHA) - The Central Election Commission (CEC) has received applications for the holding of more than 20 meetings of citizens in various cities in Ukraine regarding an all-Ukrainian referendum on Ukraine’s accession to the Customs Union, CEC Chairman Mykhailo Okhendovsky has said, reports Interfax. “Speaking about the last date, residents of Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Kakhovka, Kirovohrad, Luhansk, Odesa and Poltava are ready to simultaneously declare their desire to initiate the referendum,” he said. He said that the texts of the notifications in all cases were of the same type and signed by three citizens. Okhendovsky also noted, that the CEC had received a court ruling banning the sending of commission members to meetings of citizens in the period from October 3 to October 9. As reported earlier, the meetings of citizens on initiating a referendum on Ukraine’s accession to the Customs Union are held on the initiative of the Communist Party of Ukraine and the pro-Russian Ukrainian Choice public movement, which is headed by Viktor Medvedchuk.
