CIS observers refused to watch elections in Crimea

Ukraine had to sent a letter to the CIS Executive Committee asking them not to send the observers to the Russian State Duma elections In Crimea.

CIS observers will not come to the State Duma elections which Russia will hold in the occupied Crimea as well, according to CEC member Vasily Likhachev as cited by Kommersant.

“Conversation on the CIS mission showed that the representatives of different countries are not in the position to attend Crimea due to the foreign policies of their states,” he explained.

Likhachev said that Ukraine has forwarded a letter to the CIS Executive Committee with a request not to send observers to Crimea. He informed that the group consisted of about 200 observers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. But group will not be able to work due to the absence of a common opinion on the Crimea issue among the members.

Earlier, the OSCE reported that they would not send observers to the elections in the occupied Crimea.
