The coup attempt by Turkish military, cannot affect the country's position regarding the non-recognition of the annexation of Crimea by Russia, the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said in his televised interview to 112TV channel.
“Russia shouldn’t hope for fundamental changes in Turkish foreign policy, including recognition / non-recognition of the illegal aggression against Crimea. Turkey will keep on supporting the territorial integrity of any of its neighbors: Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. Turkey does not recognize the Russian Crimea,” he said.
However, the Ukrainian MP has expressed some concerns about the possible rapprochement of Russia and Turkey, if the relations between the latter and the United States worsen.
“If there is a certain worsening of relations with the United States against the backdrop of requirements to extradite Gulen, Erdogan can demonstrate specific intent to get closer to Russia,” Chubarov stated.
On Friday July 15, Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey Binali Yildirim reported a military coup attempt.
As of now, a large number of rebels have been detained, in particular, the military command of the country involved in the coup. A total of 8777 person have been removed from their posts.
According to official figures, 208 people have been killed and 1491 wounded in the clashes.
