Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov will appeal against his ban to entry Crimea for 5 years. The appeal is possible not later than 3 days after the ban was announced.
As we earlier reported, on July 5 Chubarov was barred from entering Crimea at the Chongar checkpoint on Ukraine-Crimea border, over “extremist statements” and was handed over a note, banning him from entering Crimea for 5 years.
The same ban was imposed against Crimean Tatar leader Mustafa Jemilev.
On July 4, Chubarov together with other Mejlis members arrived to Genichesk, Kherson region (mainland Ukraine) to conduct field session of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people. The decision to conduct the session outside Crimea was made due to Jemilev’s ban to enter the region for 5 years.
