Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov considers the recent events taking place in Crimea as a trial for Ukraine and its newly elected government, he said on the air of ATR Channel.
“The government failed to defend people’s rights, so now people are seeking defense from those who are not empowered to it- he said. There are terrorists in the center of Simferopol, but the government doesn’t take any measures to protect people” – he added.
Mr. Chubarov also noted that Crimean authorities are trying to achieve their goals using cynical methods.
To recall, on Thursday building of Crimean Parliament and government were seized by unknown armed men in Simferopol, Russian flags were set at the buildings.
Still it didn’t prevent Crimean deputies from holding an extraordinary session.
Crimean Parliament has dismissed the republic's government headed by Anatoly Mogilev, elected head of organization Russian Unity Sergey Aksyonov new Crimean Prime Minister. Lawmakers also scheduled a vote on the peninsula's future, approving holding a referendum on status of Crimea.
