The occupation authorities are planning to force Crimean Tatars completely out of Crimea, reports QHA quoting Refat Chubarov, Mejlis Chairman, who said that at a news conference called ‘Russian occupation authorities are stepping up repression against Crimean Tatars’.

“We do not rule out direct repression against Mejlis senior members who might be placed under arrest. And we also realize that a lot of members of Mejlis regional branches will be forced out of Crimea. And they (the occupation authorities – QHA) will be the first to go through with this cynical and evil plan, which we feel they have hatched. And the plan is to force Crimean Tatars completely out of Crimea,” said Chubarov.

According to Chubarov, Crimean Tatar politicians are now trying to draw the international community’s attention to the situation.

“Therefore, we are now discussing with our partners what many may find an uncomfortable subject. I’m talking about stepping up sanctions against Russia. And we should bring the matter before the UN Security Council as soon as possible. Perhaps, some might say that we are painting a too gloomy picture. But we are seeing it happening now and we should prevent a bigger crime from happening in Crimea. And the crime is forcing Crimean Tatars completely out of Crimea,” Chubarov said.
